Due to high water cut rate, high plasticity, high void ratio, and other special engineering properties of red clay, and on the southern rain, induced by rainfall, wet and dry cycle complex climate lead to red clay subgrade pavement diseases, the loss is huge. Red clay roadbed in accordance with the specification design but in the early stage of operation and even the construction stage of damage, engineering and technical personnel can not give a good explanation. It is clear that the nature of red clay is the root of this problem. This paper is supported by the National Natural Science Fund Project "under the action of dry wet cycle mechanical properties of red clay attenuation rule of" NO.51368010), summarizes based on the red clay of the previous study results, on the basis of laboratory test and theory analysis, analysis of red clay and deformation characteristics. The characteristics of swell shrink deformation and consolidation deformation under the combined action of dry wet cycle and load are studied. The results of the study are as follows:(1)the basic properties and compaction characteristics of red clay were obtained;(2)that the dry wet cycle under red clay swelling shrinkage characteristics(expansion and contraction, cumulative displacement, relative displacement) and the number of cycles between the relationship, the crack evolution law and failure characteristics of;(3)were used single line method and double line method consolidation test of red clay, get the red clay consolidation deformation characteristics, and compares the two methods; under the single method used in the form of power function to express the relationship between stress and strain of red clay;(4)by dry wet cycle test of red clay and the sample of dry wet cycle were consolidation test, get under wet and dry cycles of red clay consolidation deformation of the relationship between the characteristic and the physical index and the number of cycles.Research on red clay road performance evaluation has certain positive significance, has certain academic significance and practical value to the highway engineering construction in red clay area, and provide technical support for other related industries.
