Traditional settlement is an important part of the architectural heritage of China, and is a Chinese cultural treasure. Today, in the wave of globalization, the protection of traditional settlements and residential areas and maintaining their geographical characteristics have become a issue of common concern of the architecture industry and all sectors of society. Therefore, study on traditional settlement has a far-reaching significance. Chang's Manor is the most representative one. It not only has a beautiful natural environment and unique architectural form, but also embodies the unique traditional cultural characteristics and deep cultural connotations.Through theoretical analysis and field survey, this paper explored the architectural style of Chang's Manor. As the core of this study is the architectural style of Chang's Manor, analysis on architectural history, cultural history and related local chronicles and county annals is necessary. In these analyses, historic evolution of ancient villages and other historical factors shall be combined to provide theoretical basis for the architectural style of Chang's Manor. Moreover, on the basis of theoretical analysis and legend, this paper analyzed the thesis statement and conducted a field study on the selected ancient building, so as to sum up the architectural style of Chang's Manor.Chang's Manor belongs to fortress settlement. It was constructed for the purpose of defense. Either in overall layout or partial design, it is different from folk houses in general villages. It uses the way of living together. Each household in the village has its own house with a courtyard, and dozens of houses form a street. There is a gate in front of the village. It looks like an independent kingdom, a folk "Forbidden City", which reflects the feudal ideology to some extent. The overall architectural style of Chang's Manor was affected by the mutual effect between natural geographical environment and cultural and geographical environment, and it has regionalism, epochal character and Han nationality characteristics. At the same time, its architectural style was influenced by Western culture. In the side yard of Yonghe Hall, there was a stone archway with Russian style carved patterns, showing that the Chang's not only participated in the interior design of the manor, but also actively accepted new things and did not blockade their ideas because of the closed door policy. In the design of often home manor classical garden architecture, as a main feature of the pavilion, porch, gallery, small pavilion and garden in the school courtyard, not strictly to the construction of the axisymmetric in performance, should be under the influence of western culture, which is the design layout of jingyuan, and farm the whole design style, especially the design style of classical gardens also is affected by the 19 th-century French impressionist landscape design style. The design of Jing Gaiden reflects that although the Chang's family was under the rule of the feudal Qing Dynasty, they still maintained the civilized family tradition and yearning for freedom.Chang's Manor was formed under the influence of the local natural and humanistic environment, customs, religion and other factors in its unique natural environment after long-term development. This paper mainly through to the farm site selection, construction group layout and architectural modeling system to discuss the level of ethics,Chang's Manor was constructed according to local conditions, highly took advantage of the natural environment, and achieved reasonable function and economic structure. Therefore, it has a high scientific, historical and artistic value.
