The broke-out of industrial revolution has generated consumption culture,with great machines bringing together various goods.As time goes by,people's increasing desires for products become a breeding ground for excessive consumption,giving rise to social problems such as resource waste,serious pollution and impetuous thinking.Tracking backwards,in the handicraft stage when men were farming and women weaving,despite of the falling production method and living quality,ancient Chinese had been in the air for their innovative ideas and artworks,and had created a flourishing age for several dynasties.What for that the modern China is again upholding classicism to realize the great rejuvenation?What for skilled masters today fail to subvert old intelligence and create more artworks that are delicate enough to be passed on?And why,with today's decreasing resources,consumption waste still increases by times?Maybe these questions also bother the virtuous minds on a daily basis.In order to avoid scientific techniques that the author does not hold familiar to,this paper has been put up from the view of the author's major-design.Back to where we began-waste.Resource deficiency and human demands are contradicted.Because in the old days,the lack of resource impacted people's thinking,which again exerted influence on the production and consumption habits;thus a mature aesthetic theory was gradually shaped-applying less human work,storing more material property and bringing out the maximum functional value-which serves as the main point of the paper."Everyday use of the Common represents Tao",as a result,the paper takes an ordinary piece of cloth-baggage cloth-generating from the oriental folk custom as an example,to compare with western cognition of nature;and applies ancient Chinese aesthetics to expound unreasonable phenomena of today's designing resource allocation,for the sake of ringing an alarm for people like us who pay close attention and engage in design.Starting from ourselves,we ought to try as possible to take every extensibility into consideration,respect every natural material,and imitate the ancient craftsmen's ideas to avoid manpower and fully exert natural properties,reduce excessive waste produced by thinking and manufacturing;at the same time,we should also tackle these problems from a mental level,reconsider our daily lifestyle,improve social mood and turn impetuosity to calmness.
