Using EMTP/ATP To Verify Overvoltage Protection Of Power Plant Surge Arrester

EMTP/ATP is the most widely used software currently the world on the electromagnetic transient analysis program.The control system of complex structure and complex network can be simulated,and the mathematical model is more extensive.The software can be used to calculate the transient,and which has a lot of important features.In this paper,EMTP/ATP software is used for the calculation of power system lightning overvoltage and power transfer operating overvoltage in the plant,the safety verification for the plant power system,and the realization of the basic principle,the nonlinear characteristics and its control measures & research within the resonant overvoltage.According to the lightning current gas combined cycle power plant transformer outlet,the outlet 2 and 1 from 3 different line invasion of the computer simulation,the transformer did not exceed the peak lightning impulse withstand voltage 1175 kV.And,when the connection between the equipment of lightning,Lightning more choices,so choose the most serious situation,when the thunder struck in the top of the wire when the lightning arrester,lightning and overvoltage of the largest transformer recently.The brake gas combined cycle power plant transformer overvoltage and switching overvoltage and reclosing overvoltage calculation and simulation analysis,draw the following conclusions: the gate voltage transformer has not appeared,and the calculation of gate voltage is over voltage no-load transformer at the end of the line,and does not produce the voltage of;overvoltage calculation of switching overvoltage,maximum in line no-load condition;reclosing when the maximum voltage is about 555 kV,the results show that the protective effect in the transformer arrester,the transformer does not exceed its operating impulse withstand voltage peak 950 kV.Calculation and analysis show that the substation lightning overvoltage simulation calculation was carried out by the international general electromagnetic transient simulation software ATP-EMTP can well reflect the actual internal over-voltage level,the calculation results have a good reference value,satisfy the need of Engineering design.
