In the continuous development of agricultural progress,people more and more attention to the quality of the crops,so effective to capture every moment of the crop growth status,is one of the key problems in the process of healthy crops.At the same time,the introduction of advanced science and technology in other fields into the agricultural field is of great significance to the increase of grain production and income.Corn is one of the major food crops in China,due to the geographical dispersion of agricultural production,information collection workload is big,the traditional measuring methods need staff to the field measurement,this method is slow and low efficiency.Therefore,the automatic measurement of plant height and stem thickness of maize can not only reduce the labor of workers,but also reduce the equipment cost and improve the efficiency significantly.In view of this,aiming at the shortcomings of the existing image measurement method,this paper proposes a pixel based on the geometry of a corn plant plant height and stem diameter measurement methods,implementation of corn height and stem thick,nondestructive measurement,for the corn growth information remote access to a simple and fast measurement method is put forward.The following studies are carried out in this paper :(1)This paper set up the corn plant image measuring system,the overall system architecture is divided into four layers,and image acquisition,image transmission layer,image storage and image measuring layer,and introduces in detail the realization method and the working principle of the main function of each layer,maize plants for the next study of plant height and stem diameter measurement provides the foundation platform..(2)For maize plant height measurement,this paper adopted the method of geometrical pixels,respectively,the indoor simulation test and field real corn plant height measurement test,through contrast test results,the indoor simulation of maize plant height measurement value,average error is 0.63%,the maize plant height measured value of the field average error is 1.52%,the accuracy of the measurement method was verified.(3)Study on stem diameter measurement of maize plants.Respectively by usinggeometric pixel method the stem diameter of indoor simulation test and field real stem diameter measurement test,through contrast test results,the indoor simulation of corn stalk coarse measurement value,average error is 2.04%,the field of corn stalk coarse measurement value,average error is 3.11%.The method is simple and accurate,and is suitable for automatic measurement of corn growth parameters.(4)The source of the error of the test measurement is analyzed.The accuracy of the measurement is affected by the perspective error and the difference between the object plane and the image plane.Two kinds of error sources are corrected and the measurement precision is improved..
