Objective:This work aims to analyze the importance of PIVAS 24- hour operation to avoid irrational prescriptions and to ensure patient medication safety through comparative study of drug use status and statistical data of before and after intravenous drug distribution center(PIVAS) 24-hour mode operation of the first hospital of Zibo City. To arrange the use of drugs reasonably, reduce the medical burden of patients, and to explore the positive role of static distribution centers in clinical drug economy by 24-hour centralized configuration.Materials and methods:The medication data, prescription data and drugs balance data obtained from the first hospital of Zibo C ity were divided into A and B groups, with the data of 2009 and 2010 which not achieved the 24-hour operation as A group and the data of 2011, 2012, 2013 which achieved the 24-hour operation as B group, respectively. The intravenous drug use data, prescription data and drugs balance data of 35 clinical departments were calculated for statistical analysis. And the c linical audit data intravenous medication orders before and after intravenous drug distribution center(PIVAS) 24-hour mode operation were statistically analyzed in accordance with the eight types of vehicle error, solvent dosage error, drug dosage errors, medication frequency error, drug incompatibility, order entry errors, more than five kinds of single prescription drugs and other classes. The data were processed using SPSS 17.0 statistical software. The mean value were compared with T test, the results were expressed as mean value(± s) and P?0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:Through the comparative analysis before and after intravenous administration deployment center 24-hour operation, the prescription audit rate and irrational prescriptions correct rate showed a significant increase; unqualified doctor ratio exhibited significant decrease; irrational prescriptions proportion of four types, namely drug dosage errors, medication frequency error, drug incompatibility and more than five kinds of single prescription drugs, were shown different degrees of decline; drug costs of per patient balances, the ratio of per capita balance cost to per capita amount of drugs in hospital presented significant growth. After 24-hour mode operation, the doctor's advice auditing rate increased from 58.15% ± 1.93% to 96.82% ± 0.20%, unqualified doctor's advice rate reduced from 2.78% ± 0.06% to 0.54% ± 0.01%, the doctor's advice correction rate of 37.54% ± 2.57% an increase of 71.65% ± 0.38% and all the results were P <0.001 with significant differences(significant increases) and statistical significance. Per capita intravenous drug use balance amount increased from 5.90 ± 0.57 to 9.00 ± 0.04 yuan and the proportion increased from 0.12% ± 0.01% to 0.18% ± 0.01%. All the results were P <0.001 with a significant differences(significant increases) and statistical significance. Conclusion: Intravenous drug use deployment center 24-hour- operation mode has played a positive role for avoiding unreasonable medical advice, ensuring patient medication safety and reducing patient medical burden.
