Abstract/Summary:
Objective To compare the value of automatic breast volume scanner(ABVS)system and ultrasound(US)in diagnosising breast nodules.Methods ABVS and US examinations were done to 114 patients with 128<2cm breast nodules before surgery.We comparatively analysised their image characteristics in ABVS system and in US.The diagnositic efficience of ABVS and US were analyzed and ontrasted.Results 128 breast nodules were studied,66 of them were malignant,62 of them were benign.The positive rates of the signs of speculated horned margin and clustered micro-calcifications in ABVS were 95.5%、54.5%,which were much higher than those in US 69.7%、22.7%,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).The sensitivity,specificity,accuracy positive,predictive and negative predictive rate of convergent sign were 80.3%,67.7%,74.2%,72.6%,76.4%.The sensitivity,specificity,accuracy positive,predictive and negative predictive rate of US were 84.8%,69.4%,77.3%,74.7%,81.1%.Which of ABVS were 95.5%,72.6%,84.4%,78.8%,93.8%.Which of combined the two examinations were 97.0%,75.8%,86.7%,81.0%,95.9%,respectively.The sensitivity rate of ABVS was significantly higher than that of US(P<0.05).The sensitivity rate of combined the two examinations was significantly higher than that of US(P<0.05).However,when its specificity rate compared with US and ABVS,respectively.The difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions ABVS could provid more clear and richer images than US.The sensitivity rate of convergent sign in ABVS was high.The sensitivity rate of ABVS was higher than US.ABVS could be used as a supplement to US in the diagnosis of early breast cancer.Objective To compare the value of automatic breast volume scanner(ABVS)with enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the diagnosis of breast masses.Methods Seventy-six patients with 80 breast masses underwent preoperative examinations including ABVS and MRI.The diagnostic values of ABVS and MRI in the diagnosis of breast masses were comparatively analyzed.Results Among the 80 breast massesthat were surgically removed,34 masses were benign and 46 masses were malignant.The sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive valueand negative predictive value of ABVS in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses were94.1%,87.0%,90.0%,84.2%and 95.2%.The sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of MRI in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses were 76.5%,71.7%,73.8%,66.7%and 80.5%.And the sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the combination of ABVS and MRI in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses were 97.1%,91.3%,93.8%,89.2%,and 97.7%.The sensitivity and specificity were not significant different between ABVS and MRI in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses(P>0.05).The specificity of the combination ABVS and MRI in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses were significantly higher than ABVS(χ2=4.17,P=0.04).The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of convergence sign in the diagnosis of breast malignant masses were 64.9%,97.7%and 82.5%.Conclusions ABVS and MRI were both valuable in the diagnosis of breast masses,and the combination of ABVS and MRI is the most valuable with high specificity.
