Aim:To investigate the efficacy and safety of quetiapine therapy for bipolar depression.Methods:61 patients with bipolar depression were selected,the patients were randomly divided into two groups.The study group(31cases)was given quetiapine treatment.The control group(30 cases)was treated with magnesium valproate sustained release tablets.Two groups were taken for 8 weeks.The therapentic effects were assessed by hamilton depression scale(HAMD-17)and positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS)before treatment and after treatment 1,2,4,8 weekend.The adverse reactions were compared with treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS).Results : After treatment second,4,8 weeks of group HAMD-17 was lower than the control group,the difference was significant(P<0.05);the study group patients with PANSS score at 2,4,8 weekend lower than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the adverse reaction rate of the study group is low.Conclusion:Quetiapine can take satisfactory effect on bipolar depression with less side effects and high security,which can reduce improve the clinical symptoms.
