ObjectiveIn this study,we analyzed the demographic data of Professor Tong Xiaolin’s outpatient clinic, and explored the demographic characteristics(gender, age, address, etc.)and information about visits(frequency of visits,visits,follow-up visits,follow-up visits)for the improvement of diabetic islet function by Chinese medicine.Etc.,information on disease diagnosis(complications and comorbidities),test indicators(glycated haemoglobin, insulin resistance index, islet secretion index, etc.),and study its core drugs and medication laws for improving islet function(frequency of use, compatibility application, etc.)Evaluate the clinical efficacy of TCM in improving islet function.Through the analysis and analysis of these data,Dr.Tong Xiaolin’s clinical efficacy and medication experience in improving diabetic islet function were verified.MethodsPatients with type 2 diabetes were enrolled in the same medical records system with Professor Xiaolin.Using data mining methods, the scale-free complex network analysis method was used to mine the core medicines for the treatment of the disease, trend charts,non-parametric tests, etc.were used to study the efficacy of the relevant indicators, and the chi-square test was used to compare the drug efficacy.Results(1)Basic Information:This study included 218 patients with Type 2 Diabetes outpatient visits to the same clinic from December 2005 to March 2015,totaling 3438 visits. There were 130 male patients and 88 female patients. The age range of the patients is mainly concentrated in 40-60 years of age, mainly in the middle-aged and elderly people.Of these patients,103 were taking traditional Chinese medicine alone, accounting for 47%of the patients enrolled. The number of patient visits was up to 103 and the treatment time was up to 106 months.(2)Disease type:Of the 218 patients, the most common diabetic complications were diabetic peripheral neuropathy, diabetic autonomic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic nephropathy. The most common comorbidities were hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and fatty liver.(3)Correlation analysis:In 218 patients with type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance was mainly aggravated by the elevation of glycated hemoglobin, postprandial 2-hour blood glucose, body mass index, and triglyceride;islet β-cell function was mainly accompanied by glycated hemoglobin and 2 hours after meal Reduced blood sugar improved.(4)Efficacy evaluation:The glycosylated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose of the 218 patients in the course of 8 years of traditional Chinese medicine treatment showed a decreasing trend.During the first 18 months of treatment, the glycosylated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose decreased more significantly. The patient’s insulin resistance index(HOMA2IR)showed a decreasing trend overall.During the first 9 months of treatment, the decrease was more pronounced;the patient’s islet β-cell function(HOMA2%P)showed an overall upward trend in the first 24 months.During the course of treatment, its rise is more pronounced.ConclusionChinese medicine not only has a significant effect in controlling blood sugar, but also can reduce insulin resistance, promote proliferation and differentiation of pancreatic islet β cells, and delay pancreatic β-cell function failure.
