Quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker--new method for quality evaluation in Lonicera japonicaTo evaluate comprehensively the quality of herbal medicines is a challenge because of their diversity of chemical ingredients. Current quality control patterns are limited to industrial application, for most of the natural chemical reference substances are unavailable commercially. Herein, a case study was conducted to determine the UV relative correction factors (fk/s) of two components by HPLC-DAD. And according to their fk/s at 365 nm, we developed a method for simultaneously determined these two components by using a single standard in Lonicera japonica.The contents of rutin in 14 samples of Lonicera japonica were authentically determined by the external standard method, and the contents of the chlorogenic acid and luteoloside were calculated according to their RCFuv. Comparison with accurate values obtained from classical method proved that our proposed method is a fast, convenient, and accurate method to determine multi-components especially when some authentic standards were unavailable. It can be used in quality control of Lonicera japonica.
