It is a critical period of the changing of urban and customs about the Chengdu city in late Tang and Five Dynasties. The main direction of this research is about history and cultural memory of Chengdu in late Tang and Five Dynasties. There are four chapters in this article. Chapter one is about local identity and the concept of the Chengdu region in late Tang and Five Dynasties. Here divided into two parts which can be contrast, on one side, the memory is upon the people recall the past and the self-identity of Chengdu; on the other side, is the impression of Chengdu by the people who travelling into Sichuan. Which shows the geographical concept of the public and Chengdu's special customs. Chapter two shows that city attractions strengthen the memory of Chengdu in in late Tang and Five Dynasties. Because of historical memory always connected with the commemoration such as poetry and other literature activities. When people in such cultural reproduction activities, the memory of the past will be woke up. Chapter three is mainly about the memory of the faith in Chengdu. As the birthplace of Taoism,Ba and Su has its Taoist tradition. When Buddhism spread in Chengdu during the Sui and Tang, the struggle between Buddhism and Taoism and popular religion become an important part of the memory in Chengdu. Chapter four explains the memory implicit in poetry and other literary works. Relationship between literary activities and historical works is the emphasis.
