The famous American composer George Gershwin's symphonic poem "An American in Paris," is his most mature jazz symphonic works, which came after another successful masterpiece "Rhapsody in Blue", with the essence of jazz fully reflected in. Through a combination of theory and practice, this paper focuses on exploring the humanities, history, creative background and music symphonic poem original structure, and with the help of my mentor, we did an in depth analysis and re-adaptation to the spectrum adaptation piano solo drawdown of the famous American pianist, composer William. In this paper, the contents of the four chapters detail background of "An American in Paris",the music playing rhythm analysis and key points of downsizing spectrum piano solo, touch keys, pedal difficulty, after that, this paper demonstrates concrete example to introduce how the author actual playing on the adapted version based on William.Finally, through the analysis of this work and exercises, a conclusion achieved: By studying Gershwin's "An American in Paris" downsizing piano version, understanding the importance of playing the reduction version based on the score for the piano soloist, and meanwhile,to accurately grasp Gershwin's jazz style through exercises and understanding the spiritual content of musical expression, thereby playing a breakthrough in solving the difficulties and the actual effect of the emotional performance.
