This paper aimed to research the compound verbs “oshi?”, analyze the specific embodiment of the semantic change of the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” of compound verbs “oshi?” in the form and function from the angle of syntax and pragmatics, and discuss the polysemy and its mechanism of semantic extension of the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” in the compound verbs “oshi?” in the framework of the theory of cognitive linguistics.Chapter one gave an introduction. It mainly introduced the research background, research object and the overview of the previous research on compound verbs and the compound verbs “oshi?”, and pointed out its problems. On this basis, it put forward the research methods and research purpose.Chapter two took the “chunagon” as the search tool, retrieved the use cases of compound verbs “oshi?” contained in the Modern Japanese Written Language Balanced Corpus compiled by Japan national language study, and have obtained 84 compound verb words and 8633 use cases by carrying on the statistics and sorting. Through sorting and analyzing, we found that the frequency which compound verbs “oshi?” appeared in is different according to the following verbs. Taking the frequency of 5 times as the boundary, the compound verbs “oshi?” that the frequency is more than 5 times have 47 words, accounting for about 1 / 2 of the total word number of compound verbs “oshi?”, and its proportion of the number of use cases in the total number of use cases is as high as 99.21%; the compound verbs “oshi?” that the frequency is less than 5 times have 37 words, with its use cases representing only 0.79% of the total use cases.Chapter three analyzed the relationship of the semantic change of the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” of compound verbs “oshi?” with lattice command, lattice structure, the transitive and intransitive properties and the volitional of verbs, and the pragmatic functions, clarifying that the semantic change of the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” is closely related to its changes in the form and function.Chapter four introduced the theoretical foundation of this chapter, examined the semantic usages of the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” of compound verbs “oshi?” and obtained 13 kinds of semantic usages. On this basis, it confirmed the prototype meaning of “oshi” and discussed the relations of the 13 kinds of semantic usages by using image schema, metaphor and metonymy theories, clearing that the preceding paragraph elements “oshi” of compound verbs “oshi?” realized the semantic grammaticalization through changes in the field of image schema concepts used, image schema transformations, metaphor and metonymy.Chapter five mainly concerned the conclusion of this paper, and pointed out the future research topics.
