An Analysis Of Several Animal Images In Symbolic Painting

In fact,the Lascaux Caves ancients who lived in the Old Stone Age, dating back as early as 15,000-17,000 years ago drew a lot of animal images in their caves.Among them are horses, cattle,reindeer, wolves,etc.,which have symbolic significance.In the symbolic paintings,the painters infuses subjective color into animal images through techniques of metaphor.These common and grotesque animal images are the spirit carriers of painter's construction.Whether it is the mythical animals in human legend,or common real animal in real life, both of them are infused with delicate subjective color in the symbolic paintings.It has resonance with the picture for they play their own roles.In this paper, the author analyzes the images of animals in the artistic works in European medieval, Renaissance and the 19 th century,and analyzes the function as a connecting link of these common signals in the development of symbolic art, from the perspective of different meanings of the same animal image in painting works in different periods, and tries to reveal the meaning of these images in the contemporary painting works.
