After the victory of Anti-Japanese War, the Communist Party rapidly controlled the northern Jiangsu by the advantage in the geographical position, posing a threat to the center of Kuomintang ruling areas Nanjing and Shanghai.In the spring of 1946, a widespread famine broke out in the northern Jiangsu and the people set off the fight to liquidate the landlords, coupled with the land reform policy of the Communist radical policy, which enabled a lot of landlords to enter the areas controlled by Kuomintang. In the second half year of 1947, in order to remove the threat of the Communist Party to Nanjing and Shanghai, Kuomintang had to send army to retake the lost ground, the main force of Chinese communist trops retreated to the north. The runaway landlords hired some refugees, grouped the Home Returning Corps and marched forward with the army of Kuomintang.The Corps established the grass-roots government in the recovered area, carrying out the activities of checking old contracts and accounts and village merger. At the same time, Communist guerrillas stayed in the northern Jiangsu made corresponding plans, led people to fight back and carried on checking movement.After 1948, after several major battles, the force contrast between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party have changed, main forces of Communist forces advanced toward the south, and the corps were rapidly eliminated.The crops were eliminated, but its title remained as a sign. According to the logic of class struggles, in many political movements, many people were called the crops and were criticized.
