The Way In Which Decision-making Methods Affect The Level Of Cooperation

Humans are not only selfish,but also have social preferences.Social preferences are the foundation of human cooperation.Studies have indirectly proved that cooperation is negatively related to the decision time.This study explored the effect of decision-making model on cooperation level on the basis of existing research.It has important theoretical value for the human nature theory and motivation theory,and important practical significance for social management and education.This research measures cooperation level by using public goods game paradigm.This study included three experiments.Experiment 1 examined directly the correlation between the decision time,trust other peoples in daily life,adventure,and cooperation level.Experiment 2 mainly explored effect of time control and social value orientation on cooperation level.Experiment 3 manipulated subjects decision-making model by using boot method,to make the participants to complete experiment task using intuitive processing or analysis processings then compared cooperation level between different decision processing way.The experiments tasks were programmed on E-prime1.1.Four subjects complete the experiments operation on four computers at the same time.Participants were paid remuneration according to the rules of the public goods game,simulating the public goods dilemma in real life as far as possible.The results found that:(1)the correlation between decision time and cooperation level is significantly negative.Decision processing methods have significant effects on cooperation level,cooperation level of intuitive processing is significantly higher relative to analysis processing;(2)Social value orientation have significant effects on cooperation level,prosocial individuals have higher cooperation level than proself individuals.Trust is positively related to cooperation level.(3)Social value orientation regulates the relationship between the decision time amd cooperation.Decision time and cooperation level is significantly negative only among proself individuals.(4)Trust also regulates the relationship between the decision time and cooperation.Decision time and cooperation level is significantly negative only among high trastful individuals.
