20th century was a time of modern art blossom in western world, in which the styles of modern art presents diversified. The developing of modern art made enormous impact on traditional realistic painting which used to be prevailing in a long period. Traditional realistic painting was regarded as obsolete. There was even comments that the realistic painting is going to die out. In the complex surroundings of art, numerous artist threw themselves into modern art creation. However, as one of the greatest world-renowned realist painter, Lucian Freud didn't follow the trend. From modern art to postmodernist art, he resisted the temptation of the contemporary diversified and changing artistic environment and kept his faith of realistic art creation. Based on the traditional concept, he developed his unique style of realistic painting, and together with his superb observation, he created paintings that are not only lifelike but also present people's mental state in a real world, such as uneasiness, terrified, and numbness. Lucian Freud was persistent in painting every day, nothing could lead him away from painting throughout his life. Painting from life, his work was truth reflecting. With the development of traditional concept, he rescued the realistic painting from extinction and consolidated its position in the world of art by infusing psychic connotation. His art had made an important influence towards Chinese painting starting from 1990s.From the trail of Lucian Freud's life experience and evolution in painting style, the thesis draws forth that Lucian Freud's work belongs to realistic painting. According to the study his development on traditional realistic painting and his perseverance in specific surroundings of art, we have made certain of the tremendous contribution he made through his creativity in realistic painting. Lucian Freud's contribution shapes the destiny of realistic painting and makes an important influence to Chinese painting. By discussing his power throughout the world, together with Chinese traditional complex of realistic oil painting we find out the inevitability of his great influence to Chinese painting by tracing back the surroundings of art before his art is accepted locally, which are summarized as follows: Lucian Freud's fame worldwide has made positive influence to Chinese painting; Lucian Freud's realistic painting is in line with Chinese concept; Experience in the same environment, the rapid development of modern art in the art Lucian Freud's development and success of realistic painting, become after modern art trend after confused but unwilling to realistic method of traditional Chinese painters find motivation and model for the continuation of Chinese oil painting localization characteristics. It all went into the Freud realistic painting's influence on Chinese oil painting research. In China, with the most obvious Freud's painting style of Chinese oil painting like Mr. Liu and Mr. Xin two gentlemen. Based on the similarity between the two gentlemen and Lucian Freud's artistic characteristics analysis, explore Lucian Freud's impact on Chinese oil painting in the realistic painting. Through the influence of this kind of phenomenon can be summarized Lucian Freud practical significance to the development of Chinese oil painting, first of all, after Freud to the traditional realistic painting to expand new face enriched since the 1990 s Chinese oil painting style appearance; Second, to the human spirit in the works of Freud explore broaden the way of Chinese realism oil painting since 1990 s. Finally, the paper expounds by Lucian Freud realistic painting art characteristics and the influence on the Chinese oil painting of enlightenment.
