An Interpretation Of The Characteristics Of Folk Music In The Piano Work "Hundreds Of Birds And Phoenix"

Wang Jianzhong is one of the most famous pianists, composers and music educators in the modern history of China.He adapted Chinese folk songs, folk music and other works into piano works, vividly presented Chinese national music features. His works greatly enriched the library of Chinese piano music. And he has made an outstanding contribution to the development of Chinese piano music.<Bai Niao Chao Feng> is one of his most classic and representativeChinese piano works.The combination of the piano playing techniques and the Chinese national music features were chosen as the topic of this dissertation. First of all, the whole vision of <Bai Niao Chao Feng> were described, based on the introduction of the development history of Chinese piano music, the writing experiences of Mr. Wang and the background of the story<Bai Niao Chao Feng>.And then, the whole structure of<Bai Niao Chao Feng> was deeply analyzed. The Chinese national music features in this piece were extracted based on the music vocabulary, the reference of the Chinese national opera, and the imitation of theChinese musical instruments.At last the performing techniques for<Bai Niao Chao Feng> were meticulously researched. The argument of how to present the Chinese national music features in this piece with piano were discussed from several aspects, such as the playing techniques, the imitation of the vocal opera, the imitation of national instruments and the description of the mood and tone.<Bai Niao Chao Feng> was chosen as an example of the piano music works of Mr. Wang. A large amount of materials were concentrated and the detailed study has been done. The combination of the piano playing techniques and the Chinese national music characteristics has been discussed in this dissertation. May it be a reference of the performance of<Bai Niao Chao Feng> and the relate research.
