This thesis explores the generation oftwo types of "Resultative DE construction":"NP-V-de-VP" and'NP1-V-de-NP2-VP".With such tools as "small clause theory" and "light verb theory",it tries to prove the following issues:First,"Resultatives"and"Resultative DE Construction" are syntactically generated by the same mechanics;(Chapter3)Second,the generation of "Resultative DE Construction",is because the introduction of the "light verb DE" triggers a series of syntactic move;(Section3,Chapter3)Third,the reason that Chinese adopts both structures is that neither of them can fully express "causitivity" in Chinese. To be specific,it is because the Chinese prosody prohibits the merge of two verbs wherein the second has more than two syllables that it adopts "ResuItative DE Construction".(Section2,Chapter3)Four,it reclassifies those troublesome sentences into three categories, and points out that only "ambiguity" is worthy of consideration.More,it proves that the"ambiguity" comes from the uncertainty of verbs in argument selection.(Chapter4)...
