Mo Yan's Research On Emotional Metaphor In The Series Of "Red Sorghum Family"

Research on human emotion has always been an important subject in the study of cognitive linguistics.Emotion,as an abstract concept,is sometimes fairly difficult to be presented visually and accurately in simple language.Thus,contemporary cognitive metaphor theory proposes that metaphor plays a significant role in the process of emotion conceptualization,and emotion metaphors display human emotion specifically and vividly.There has been an immense amount of concrete research on English emotion metaphors,whereas in Chinese,not many studies of emotion metaphor have been conducted in particular Chinese literature.Most research on Chinese emotion metaphors has so far focused on the differences between English and Chinese emotion metaphor.This thesis analyzes Mo Yan's Red Sorghum Family on the basis of Lakoff's Conceptual Metaphor Theory and K?vecses' s Emotion Metaphor Theory,and combined with Chinese Emotion Metaphor's emotion categories,cognitive characteristics and cultural interpretations.The aim of this paper is to construct the emotion metaphor conceptualization and to interpret the Chinese-specific patterns of cognitive construction,which can be applied to categorizing and analyzing the concepts and examples of emotion metaphors in Mo Yan's work,so that the mutual relations and features of emotion metaphor conceptualization can be investigated.
