Self-disclosure is a process in which individuals share their private information with others in social communication.Previous studies have shown that mutual self-disclosure can promote further disclosure.Self-disclosure is a window for individuals to express their feelings, thoughts and opinions to others, and is an important way to enhance intimacy.College Students' physical and mental development is in the stage of maturity and not fully mature, the main task of this period is to develop a sense of intimacy, overcome loneliness, college students expect to get love and belonging in the peer relationship. And appropriate self-disclosure can promote the development of intimacy of college students and contribute to the development of college students' mental health.Especially in the early development of relationships,self-disclosure is even more important because it is possible that two people are willing to continue to interact and develop intimacy. At the same time, the type of self-disclosure and gender differences may have a different impact on the enhancement of intimacy. Therefore, this study used a questionnaire survey, laboratory experiments to explore the impact of self-disclosure on intimacy. In the study 1,the correlation between self-disclosure and intimacy among parent-child and friends was taken as the starting point by using the method of questionnaire survey. The results showed that the father of intimacy and fathers of self-disclosure in all of self-disclosure was the highest relation(r = 0.60),the mothers of intimacy and mothers of self-disclosure in all of self-disclosure was the highest relation(r = 0.60),the same sax friends of intimacy and same sax friends of self-disclosure in all of self-disclosure was the highest relation(r = 0.51),the opposite sax friends of intimacy and opposite sax friends of self-disclosure in all of self-disclosure was the highest relation(r = 0.67),intimacy is associated moderately with self-disclosure in the same subject. In the study 2,the influence of the different types of self-disclosure(factual self-disclosure and emotional self-disclosure)on the intimacy of college students was taken as the starting point by laboratory experiment method. The results showed that alternating self-disclosure between strangers can bring about positive interpersonal outcomes,e.g.liking,feelings of intimacy, perceived similarity, and enjoyment of interaction. In terms of the influence of factual self-disclosure and emotional self-disclosure on the feeling of intimacy, the scores of explicit intimacy of the emotional self-disclosure group was significantly higher than that of the factual self-disclosure group(t =-2.78,p = 0.008 < 0.01),and the scores ofimplicit intimacy of the emotional self-disclosure group was significantly higher than that of the factual self-disclosure group(t =-2.29,p = 0.03).In the study 3,we used the laboratory experiment method to take the emotional valence and type of self-disclosure as the starting point. The results showed that self-disclosure between same sex and opposite sex can effectively improve the feeling of intimacy of college students, and the positive emotional self-disclosure and negative emotional self-disclosure can also effectively improve the feeling of intimacy of college students;in the case of positive emotional self-disclosure,intimacy between same-sex and opposite sex companions were not significantly different(p > 0.05),in the case of negative emotional self-disclosure,the intimacy of opposite sex companions was higher than that of same sex companions(p < 0.05);in the same interaction context, the explicit intimacy score of male was higher than that of female(t = 3.51,p < 0.01).
