Shi Zhongshan's Novel Creation Theory

Shi Zhongshan is an influential novelist and playwright in contemporary China.So far,Shi Zhongshan's more than 20 novels have been adapted into film and teleplay that have won many prizes,which earned him honor while also bringing wealth.But these "attractive" works did not win experts' wide approval.In the view of professional audience and critics,Shi Zhongshan is not a first-class writer;his "success" is mainly because of the low level of China drama industry,and the low level of literature of China audience,while Shi Zhongshan's works exactly adapts to the situation.It can also be found,reception aesthetics emphasizes the status and function of the audience and it meets the needs of audience,this is not only the reasons for the success of Shi Zhongshan's early works in literature and business,but also the causes of the disease of modelling in the recent works in literature.If the writers cater to the audience deliberately will go astray and go to vulgar.Therefore,although the reception aesthetics provides researchers with a good perspective,but it also has shortcomings and limitations.In the research work,it cannot be used as the only method.We should have transpositional consideration in order to avoid bias.In general,the changes of Shi Zhongshan's works are periodical,and the famous "burning passion" is the key nodes.Before that,the artistry of his novels showed an ascend trend.These novels are successful in the plot structure,subject and the characters.But since then,the literariness and artistry of his works have been gradually decline.These novels began to appear ill,for example the single plot structure,the compromised subject and the flat characters and so on.In general,Shi zhongshan's novel stay in "story type novels" level,ignoring the "philosophy" and "psychology" of the writing and the exploration and application of modern and post-modern writing techniques.This is the limitation of a cinematic imagination which hinders the upgrading of the artistic quality of novel creation.Thus,the success of Shi zhongshan's novels benefits from the "film imagination",and the reasons for the failure are also "filmic imagination".Actually,the problem of the creation in Shi Zhongshan's works is a common phenomenon among the contemporary writers,while the performance is more outstanding,more representative and typical in Shi Zhongshan's works.Therefore,I call it "Shi Zhongshan phenomenon” which is represented by Shi Zhongshan.In this phnomenon,theses works are popular but not highly praised by experts.It can be known from Shi Zhongshan's works,the quality of films and teleplay is worrying in contemporary China.Driven by the sales,box office takings,ratings and other economic benefits,whether novels or play adaptation will appear the phenomenon of “homogenization”,“mass production”,and “categorization”.In this circumstances,writers should establish classicalconsciousness.Only "the masses" can improve reader's reading ability and national aesthetic quality.Film and television industry will develop healthily and continually.This article will make a general evaluation of Shizhongshan's novel,and "Shi Zhongshan phenomenon" will be acted as the biopsy of contemporary novels and teleplay.I will expose the disease in order to cause the attention of writers and audience,so the subject has academic value and cultural significance.The prolegomenon of the thesis expounds the general situation of novel creation and puts forward "Shi Zhongshan phenomenon”;The main body analyzes the merits and shortcomings of the novel from plot and structure,theme and character.The “peroration” hope that through the study of Shi Zhongshan's novels in this paper will cause the the writers' attention in order to establish "quality awareness".Combining the functions of "popularization","improvement","entertainment" and "education".Refusing to taste "popular" and even to kitsch,which is a common expectation of the majority of the audience and professional readers.Shi Zhongshan's novels and the scripts which have been published will be used as the main research material in this thesis,while the adaptation of film and teleplay will be used as background material.In the comments section the comparison will be made between teleplay and fiction,which will act as the extension and supplement to the comment of the film and teleplay.
