Research On The Adverb Of "The Magical Lotus"

In this paper,we mainly use the Lotus Sutra translated by Kum?raj?va as the corpus,to analyze its adverbs exhaustively by using the method of synchronic research combined with diachronic comparison;description and interpretation;text description and chart statistics;qualitative and quantitative analysis to carry out a comprehensive and systematic study of the adverbs,sketch out the evolution of the ancient Chinese adverbs track and look into the impact of Buddhist sutra vocabulary on the Chinese vocabulary,and then reveal the evolution of Chinese vocabulary rules,to provide a little valuable material for the study of Chinese history.This paper also compares the adverbs in the Lotus Sutra and the adverbs contained in the Chinese Dictionary,to provide a reference for the Chinese Dictionary,and supplement the word or meaning of the loss.It shows the important corpus value of the Buddhist sutra vocabulary in ancient Chinese vocabulary study.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper is divided into four chapters,specifically as follows:Adverbs are researched and analyzed exhaustively in chapter one.The adverbs are divided into nine categories: time adverbs,degree adverbs,state adverbs,range adverbs,negative adverbs,modest adverbs,interrogative adverbs,conjunctive adverbs,speculative adverbs,and we carry out exhaustive study for them respectively.The characteristic of its adverbs are analyzed in chapter two.The two-syllable adverbs are gradually increased and two-tone trend is obvious.The occurrences number of range adverbs and time adverbs are the highest.Many adverbs were originally verbs or adjectives.They gradually appear new meaning items,and then they are blurred into time adverbs and so on.Taking the state adverbs as the example,then comparing and analyzing the adverbs of the two versions,to explore the differences between the different translations of the same Buddhist Scripture.The origin and diachronic evolution of the adverbs are investigated in chapter three.Mainly taking the time adverb “Ji” and “Jian” as the example,to study the grammaticalization evolution process of the notional word.After our investigation,the “Ji” experienced two changes from verb to adverb to conjunction and finished the evolution from the notional word to function word finally.The “Jian” experienced two changes from noun to verb to adverb.The corpus value of adverbs is analyzed in chapter four,by comparing with the adverbs of Chinese Dictionary to provide reference for it.
