The “legend” is a sign of the maturity of Chinese classical novels,and its literary value deserves attention.“Deformation”is a one of categories in “legend”,which have various themes with interesting plots,reflecting the “legend” of the "fantastic" features.Although there is no lack of academic research on the “legend”,but the literature research and type of research is not enough depth.In this paper,the “legend” of the Tang and Song dynastiesas the object,one is to have a macro perspective,the second is hoping to find the inheritance and development between the two generations of “legend”,common and differences,which is the lack of academic part.This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter introduces the reasons for the topic,and analyzes in detail the academic research on the“legend” of Tang and Song dynasties and summarizesthe research results related to "deformation”.The second chapter,the main contact is to define “deformation”.Deformation born from the myth and has a long period of development from Six Dynasties tothe Tang and Song dynasties.Deformationlegend needs that: First,create a “deformation” image;second,createa “deformation” plot.According to the different character,the “legend”can be divided into “human changes” and “material changes”.The third and fourth chapters respectively analyze the “material change” and “human changes” legend in-depth.In the “material change” category,“from the hidden to the show” is the layout of this kind of “legend”.In order to achieve this effect,the author usually uses harmonic means.There are four ways: through the appearance of the implied,through the nature of the implied,through the words implied and the construction of the animal kingdom.Deformation is a surreal phenomenon,in order to make the deformation plot happen reasonable,the author often through the “deformation intermediary”and “dream” as transition,which is used in the two categories of legend.The legend of the "people changes" is clearly influenced by the culture of Buddhism and Taoism,with the nature of religious propaganda,but there are some maverick works worthy of attention,these works reflect the author’s thinking on the deformation.I choose “Li Zhi”as an example to do a detailed text study.The “material changes”novels is becoming more and more mature,and the “people changes” category is rare,which also reflects the development path of Chinese “deformation” legend.
