Wu Sheng's "Great Views" Study

Seventeenth Century China,a large number of the calligraphy and painting works flow into the folk,at the same time,private collection of those were very popular,calligraphy and painting on the relevant catalogue number is beyond the previous generation.At that time,the painting and calligraphy collection groups were not just confined to imperial power,aristocrats and refined scholars,merchants also joined the collection group,and Wu Sheng was one of them.Wu Sheng,is a collection of antique collectors.Because of his identity,he often went to the painting market place,which makes him get lots of the authenticate experience,and he also make a lot of friends,such as Ling Qing-biao,Cao Rong,Song Luo.Wu Sheng often put his feelings and experiences into articles when contacting with these master calligraphers and painters,leaving voluminous writings.DaGuan Lu wrote by him had complete stylistic rules and layouts as well as substantial contents,and he also offered opinions on the quality of works in the basic information on work texture and size.The work is one calligraphy and painting record with great significance in Chinese painting history,representing his outstanding personality and remarkable appreciation level distinctive with these mercenary merchants.This paper research on Wu Sheng and DaGuan Lu from multiple perspectives.To begain with,is focus on to analyzed the causes and characteristics of the book.What's more,by virtue of the comment record of Wu Sheng in DaGuan Lu,this paper drew the outline of his friends circle;and classified by regions,it tried to present the style of northern and southern calligraphy and painting appreciation and collection in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.In addition,it concluded the appreciation method and aesthetic trend of Wu Sheng via detailed textural research on the calligraphy and painting works recorded by him.The final part of this paper summarized the value and painting history significance of DaGuan Lu.
