On The Reproduction Of The Musical Beauty Of Zhao Yuanren's Translation Of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland

As interdisciplinary study is drawing more and more attention in almost every academic field,this thesis hopes to study translation from an interdisciplinary perspective.Literature and music are two different kinds of art that influence each other.The differences between them make literature and music each become an independent form of art with its own features,while the "co-classification" brings mutual interaction and penetration,and enriches the artistic expression of each other.Translation study about music and literature have all along drawn great attention from scholars of various fields,and many researches have been done on these subjects,but probably due to the restriction of discipline and plot of the literary works,few researches have focused on the musicality of literary translations.The famous children's literature Alice's Adventures in Wonderland written by British writer Lewis Carroll wins great popularity around the world and the book is thought to be of high literature value.Zhao Yuamen.the well-known Chinese linguist,musician and translator,translated the first Chinese version of this novel into Chinese.It has been so well received and stood the test of time,becoming a classic translation that cannot be surpassed.In recent years,numerous researches have been done on it:however,little attention has been paid to the musicality of Zhao's translation.This thesis has systematically explored the representation of language musicality in Zhao's translation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland from the perspectives of rhyming beauty in sound,tonality beauty in word and the rhythmic beauty in sentence.Zhao Yuanren perfectly translated the silent text into an exquisite melody.Greatly as language and time has changed,it is still so well received and been considered as an unsurpassable classic.
