Animated Short Film Creation With "chaotic Stitching" As The Main Expression

Embroidery is one of the most distinctive traditional craftsmanship of china,which has been bearing the long history and culture of china for thousands of years.As time goes by,Chinese embroidery has been divided into different factions.What's more,because of the difference of regional culture,there's always pretty diverse pattern and stitch among different embroidery factions.In all these factions,disorderly needle embroidery,which was born in Changzhou,Jiangsu in 1920s,continued the character of exquisite and glossy of Suzhou embroidery,and at the same time combined with the theories of sketch and oil painting,made the stitch into chaos orderliness and the looking into soft unconstraint.Disorderly needle embroidery is the most expressive embroidery I have ever known,which can present several different textures.At present,embroidery is mainly used in fields like home improvement,clothing,accessories,etc.However,the appearance of embroidery in multi-media is less common,or even rare.To broaden the application scope of disorderly needle embroidery,so as to better the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese embroidery culture,I studied animation and disorderly needle embroidery in a penetrating way,found the possibility and method of integrating the two,and finally complete a short public service animation film,Big Fish.In this short film,I combined embroidery with two-dimension animation and postproduction technologies and told a little story themed the protection of water,which warns people about the shortage of water resources through the contrast between the start and ending.In this paper,in addition,I explained,appraised and restudied my final work,emphasizing on the significance of the work for embroidery culture inheritance and animation materials innovation,expecting that my paper could provide certain reference for the future studies on the integrating of multi-media and embroidery.
