From the film Burning Paradise in Hell in 1928,martial arts art film must have an important place in Chinese films.Through one hundred years development of martial arts movie,it is King Hu and his film A Touch of Zen that launches the martial arts film to the world.King Hu is representative literati of martial arts director.His ideas in the historical culture and deep attainments in traditional aesthetics deeply influence the creation of the film A Touch of Zen.The innovation of the paper is not reflected in the choice of the object of the research,but also in the adoption of western narrative research methods to interpret the traditional Chinese aesthetics of the film A Touch of Zen and the result of more rigorous and detailed research system and research conclusion.The introduction of the paper discusses the background,significance,present situation and trend of the research and also the concrete research methods of this article based on the traditional Chinese aesthetics and methodology.The main part constructs the paper according to western narrative method.Chapter 1 explores King Hu's experience and the creation of the film A Touch of Zen.Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 mainly reflect “the heart of craftsmen”,that is,from the angle of narrative elements and narrative strategies to appreciate and analyze the narrative style and audio-visual expression,which are a traditional oriental charm and artistic conception.Chapter 4 mainly demonstrates the “the poetic martial arts”,which reveals the theme and also the ultimate goal of the paper—the refining of traditional Chinese aesthetic implication and interpretation of the director's philosophical thinking.Chapter 5 analyzes the heritage of all martial arts film under the influence of the film A Touch of Zen and seeks the time value and significance of the study in the new century.Fast food type of commercial film is prevailing and films based on the traditional Chinese aesthetics are gradually disappearing.Films with traditional aesthetics and national culture are meeting with great difficulties and challenges.The paper studies the film heritage from the traditional Chinese aesthetics,but with limited experience,which can bring the enlightenment to the scholars and relevant research.
