“Traditional Regression”—the Study Of The Form Of Contemporary Graphic Murals

Mural is the oldest painting art form,the emergence of petroglyph----the most primitive form of mural,marks the beginning of mural,which is about fifty thousand years ago.Due to the influence of region,religion and times,the features of murals are different.Comparing with other paintings,murals are painted on the walls of buildings,and the environment that murals face is to pursue public groups aesthetic and improve the whole society's aesthetic standard through communication and cooperation with public's aesthetic consciousness.As the society keeps developing,the art language and content form of mural become diversified and the aesthetic connotation also becomes richer.In the development of contemporary mural,owing to the increase of craft materials,there are more usability-murals,which makes a number of mural language and sculpting mode go far away from traditional murals.The decoration function of mural is over emphasized in architectural space,so the handcrafted feeling and the value of hand painting are absent.The piling of so many materials makes mural works descend to the decoration and dependency of wall space,this reduces the independent aesthetic nature of mural.As the purest painting art form,although portrayal mural receives great impact from many aspects,it still has strong vitality in current fast-growing society and reforms.Since the epoch-making murals clusters in Beijing Capital International Airport in 1979,usability-murals are in the majority,and the portrayal murals become less and less.However,in the murals exhibition of 10th and 11th National Fine Arts Exhibition,the proportion of portrayal murals becomes larger,which reflects that the pure painting art form presents a returning state in current social development,thus indicates the irreplaceable position of portrayal murals.From functionality and artistry,the thesis studies the artistic form of contemporary portrayal mural through analyzing the concept,characteristics and development process of portrayal mural.The thesis is divided into five parts:The introduction part mainly illustrates the development background of portrayal mural and its development status in current society,studies its development,inheritance and evolution through the development of history.Without doubt,understanding portrayal mural's role at the present times from artistic form has practical significance to promote the development of contemporary portrayal mural.The first chapter is an overview of portrayal murals.It analyzes and concludes portrayal mural from its concept and characteristics,and the development status of eastern and western portrayal murals.The second chapter discusses the functionality of contemporary portrayal mural from three aspects:memorable function,educational function and cultural function.The third chapter states the artistry of contemporary portrayal mural from three aspects:"reality","romance" and "expression".The expressive content,expressive form and expressive technique all embody the unique artistic charm of contemporary portrayal mural.The conclusion part sums up the whole thesis and illustrates the future development tendency of portrayal murals in the society.In order to make the development directions of portrayal murals more diversified and broad,it should follow the trend of the times,and keep combining with new technique,new science and technology,and new ideas.
