Filial piety, which is not only one of the traditional virtues of China, but also the core of Confucianism, plays an important role in ancient Chinese thought. During the Tang Dynasty, Xizhou ties between the east and west geographically, which was influenced by a variety of religions and cultures. Thereby, a Chinese-driven multiculture was gradually formed there. On the basis of previous studies, this paper will explore the how the diverse religions and cultures impact on the concept of filial piety in Turpan in Tang Dynasty by analysing the unearthed documents in Turpan.The article is composed of six parts: The first part is the Introduction, including research background, methodology and current research status. The second part is Chapter One of the paper, named 'distinct geographical environment and regional culture', which will discuss the influence of geographical location and natural environment on the local culture and people's ideology in Xizhou area. The third part is Chapter Two of the paper, named 'Confucianism and filial piety', which explores the spread of Confucian culture in Xizhou and how the Confucianism affects people's value of filial piety there. What's more, this chapter illustrates the implementation of regulations and policies towards 'Ruling the Country with filial piety' enacted by government Tang.The fourth part is Chapter Three, named 'Buddhism, Taoism and filial piety'. Based on the analysis of the excavations like letters, epitaph and clothes, this part discusses the influence of Buddhism and Taoism on Xizhou people's filial behaviors.The fifth part is Chapter Four, named 'Three Foreign Religions' and Xizhou Hu people's value of filial piety, which discusses the spread of 'Three Foreign Religions'in Xizhou and the influences on local people's ideas during the Tang Dynasty. In addition, this part also discusses the process of the adoption and practice of filial piety during Hu's civilization. The sixth part is the conclusion of this paper.
