| As a kind of art appreciation, film review plays an important role in the process of film production. Usually, film review becomes an analysis to a movie. Also, it can be a guide to the audience and take a feedback to the film creators. However, film review will show its more powerful influence, if there is a new wave of films.As a major branch of Chinese film,Taiwanese film has made plentiful and substantial achievements during its development. In 1980s, Taiwan's New Wave of films made Taiwanese film become international, and film review played an essential part in the whole wave,which had a great effect on its formation and development.On the one hand, film review took full advantage of art appreciation to support the style of Taiwan's New Wave of films. Some new directors who have a strong style in their works kept their artistic expression because of the film review. On the other hand, film review showed a great effect on the film creation, which were unusual to happen in common occasion. It protected new directors' creation intention, and led a different survival path to the wave when it got into trouble.This paper focuses on these film reviews,which were written in Taiwan's New Wave of films. Based on the history of wave,we can analyze and make a conclusion about what effect does film review have. And then,we can discuss how it happened. |
