Chinese dance theatre,after introduced into China,integrated its own aesthetic form with China's classical aesthetics,and became a dancing art form which embed with distinct Chinese tradition al culture symbol and with an aesthetic pursuit that catering to China's audience.This essay aimed to introduce the definition,characteristics and aesthetics pursuit of Chinese dance theatre,as well as to examine its development under the context of collision and fusion between Western post-modernism aesthetics and Chinese classical aesthetics.The essay,basing on the status quo of Chinese dance theatre,also analyzed its future development direction theoretically?In order to study on Tanztheater,which was unfamiliar to the public,the author first reviewed its developing.The concept of dance theatre was brought by Kurt Jooss in 1920 s when German expressionism dance was popular.He combined classic ballet and the New dance to create a kind of dance that can express plots effectively.However,it was Pina Bausch who created new art forms and styles for dance theatre that made it came into being.The author introduced the Chinese dance theatre by reviewing its background,development and the relation to other art category due to the lack of certain definition.Through the introduction,the author used the method of observation,comparison and trans-disciplinary approaches to further study on the theatre arts,drama and western aesthetics.Furthermore,Chinese dance theatre was emerged after the Cultural Revolution when China began to open and reform,as well as to meet western art;therefore,literature research method was applied in this research to collect and dig into historic materials.Tanztheater as an independent art form,was supported by developed aesthetic theories.Its pattern,content and ideology had the characteristics of post-modern aesthetics.Therefore,the author instead of just introducing the background,analyzed the fundamental characteristics of Chinese dance theatre under the post-modern aesthetics theory framework.The author used the trans-disciplinary method to combine knowledge from both dancing art and aesthetics,and revealed the interdisciplinary,ambiguous,deconstructive,idealistic eventful features of Tanztheater which was also the characteristics of post-modern aesthetics.The author presented the status quo of Chinese dance theatre by introducing Chinese dancing artists' theatre work,theatre studio and groups and examined the relationships and differences between Chinese and western Tanztheater.In China,the non-theater arts generated certain impact on Chinese dance theatre.Those art forms lived for entertaining the audience which was opposite to the idea and pursuit of Tanztheater.The author by the method of observation,further watched the dance theatre both home and abroad,and analyzed their differences and connections.This essay then gave advices to the development of Chinese dance theatre.The western Tanztheater,as an intruding art forms,will restrain the formation of Chinese own dance theatre.However,it promoted the development of Chinese modern dance and broadened the aesthetic orientation of Chinese dance.Tanztheater,once came to China,nourished by traditional Chinese culture,became China's dance theatre.The author integrated classical Chinese aesthetics thoughts and the current situation of Chinese modern dance and predicted the future of China's dance theatre under the context of the fusion of aesthetics idea.The author applied methods such as documentary reviewing,comparison,trans-disciplinary,experiential summary,etc.,researched on Chinese dance theatre's aesthetic pursuit from artistic conception and insight emphatically,and finished the whole study.By introducing the concept and development of Tanztheater,this essay first examined the aesthetics pursuit of dance theatre.The author then based on Chinese classical aesthetics and the development of China's dance,studied on the concept,characteristics and aesthetics pursuit of China's Tanztheater.The author eventually gave advices to the further development of China's Tanztheater.
