Analysis Of Zhang Chao's Piano Solo Works

Zhang Zhao is one of the outstanding modern composers in China. He has devoted himself to the composition of piano music in the last decade. His solo piano works have varied subjects and distinctive Chinese style, and have won many awards both at home and abroad. This paper summarizes conception features of composition themes, the characteristics of the musical language and the significance of composition through the analysis of Zhang Zhao's six representative solo piano works.This paper will mainly analyze Zhang Zhao's composition and his six representative solo piano works from the following three aspects.The first part is the five major conception features of composition themes,including title, diversity, tradition, custom and fantasy.The second part is the musical language of composition. The common features of Zhang Zhao's six solo piano works from the aspects of melody, harmony, structure and texture are summarized in this part.The third part is the significance of composition. Firstly, the history and the characteristics of Chinese piano music composition are reviewed. Then, the significance of Zhang Zhao's piano music composition in two aspects is summed up.Finally,the inspiration of Zhang Zhao's piano composition to today's piano composition is presented.
