To explore the change of ancient landscape from the perspective of cultural geography is an important subject in the study of urban culture,and it is of great practical significance to the construction of modern ecological civilization.The ancient gardens of Southern Jiangsu area as products of the interaction between natural geographical environment and social culture environment for a long time,with both material and cultural properties,has the function of practical ecological and spiritual sustenance and multiple values.Modern urban landscape and ancient landscape are human consciousness changes have on the natural and social environment,to create the ideal living space,the two are the same in essence,in the garden culture content and construction time should be showing a certain continuity.In the modern city landscape construction,the material function and cultural function are overemphasized,but profound cultural heritage and unique spiritual values are ignored.Therefore it is considered that exploring the relationship between social background and features of ancient gardens in the evolution of the development process,to realize the contemporary value of the ancient gardens,also enrich the modern landscape of civilization and culture meaning.This paper selects the most representative of ancient gardens of South of Jiangsu area in Chinese ancient garden system as the research object,focusing on the long-term interaction between culture and geographical environment based on the theory of cultural geography,and put aside the study of architecture and simple garden art space.In order to get new conclusions of the application of the ancient gardens in South of Jiangsu,it analyzes the cultural characteristics of ancient gardens from the view of landscape,semiotics and structural function by drawing on the research framework and theoretical basis of cultural geography.First of all,the evolution of the landscape in South of Jiangsu region in accordance with the time sequence of space and landscape features on the discussion,the dynamic display of the ancient landscape of the cultural characteristics of the times and continuity.Which leads to of South of Jiangsu region landscape spatial pattern and landscape characteristics of evolution,the development pattern of the southern garden space analysis,mainly from the multiple spatial scales,including three aspects:large scale space exterior region,middle southern regional geographic space,micro city and garden space.It elaborates the evolution law of landscape features from the ancient garden cultural landscape and cultural ecology aspects,then the conclusion is drawn that the ancient gardens in South of Jiangsu continue to develop and develop in the geographical space and garden culture.Secondly,the combination of cultural geography,culture,ecology and culture change driving factor theory,the evolution of the Sunan region of ancient garden features of the driving factors for inquiry,clear natural geographical environment,cultural diffusion,economic and political pattern,human thought and so and landscape of the origin,development,evolution has an important relationship.Finally,combined with the urban landscape construction and landscape development present situation,the response of the construction of ecological civilization,landscape development can not simply emphasize ecological function and external landscaping features and cultural connotation of the landscape and cultural value to also follow up.To this end,we can draw experience from the construction practices and landscape characteristics of ancient gardens,highlight the city’s historical heritage,highlight the spiritual enjoyment of people’s lives,and build regional cultural landscape area.
