| The birth of new forms of art is not a short duration of time,like the development of electronic music,which went through only one hundred years or so from the origin to present.People's awareness,study and contribution on electronic music are less than those of classical and romantic music.Electronic music is a kind of modern music in 20 th,its creation technique,content,material organization as well as patterns are quite different from the traditional music,which is due to the continuous progress of technology and the innovation of composer on sound.The content of this paper is about the method of sound design by using Max For Live and the practical application of Max For Live,or designing the sound which we want through Max For Live,and put it in the electronic music works.Before this,let us first look at the history of Max For Live: the prototype of Max graphical programming software was designed by an American named Miller Puckette in1984.Live,developed in 2001,was an audio workstation with powerful editing function and capability of program design and development.The combination of Max and Live----Max For Live didn't come out until 2009.It highly combined the Max/Msp free editing environment and personalized workflow of Live,which made the Max could not only control Live itself but also let Live support the information of OSC well.So,it can help us to create the voice whatever we want and real-time control mode by using Max For Live.This unique combination form and techniques can not be compared by any other operation platform at present.Thus,Max For Live,this new burgeoning tool,is worth for us studying and thinking.First of all,this paper is beginning with the concept of Max/Msp and Live,describing the role of the two,comparing their advantages and disadvantages,and summing up what Max For Live can do and what advantages it has brought to sound design.Next,the paper describes the core content of sound design,including two parts: one is how to design a simulant synthesizer,the other one is how to design an audio effect device,they are basic theory and practice of sound design.When we understand the nature of the object,we can create other types on the basis of it.When we discuss the design process of simulation synthesizer,as the additive synthesizer and subtractive synthesizer laid the basis for the design of the synthesizer type,I analyzed the basic principles and composition mode of the two at length.And I explained how to construct the basic modules with a lot of Max For Live programs.Finally,I explained how to construct an additive synthesizer and a subtractive synthesizer by using Max For Live.In the discussion of the design of audio device in this paper,sound was divided into "static sound" and "dynamic sound",I analyzed the physical characteristics of the two and the perception brought to the audience,then I drew the conclusion that excellent sound design needed to be decorated,the sound could give completely different auditory sensations and feelings after decorated.Then combining with the Max For Live,I described the features and application method of mainstream effect in detail,by means of which,we can understand the principle and techniques of deformation processing of voice.Finally,using Max For Live to create a unique "delay",offering a kind of train of thought and methods for design of audio effect processor.The last part of the paper is about the practical use.Somatosensory controller--externalequipment such as LeapMotion and Midi controller combined,discussing the mapping method of Max For Live on the sound parameters,that is how to control parameters through gestures or Midi controller(faders,knobs,X/Y touch panel,etc.),the process of sound design is very important,we cannot ignore its manifestation mode.In conclusion,Max For Live can not only absorb the essence of all Max/Msp,but also expand the function of Live,this unique combination is of great significance no matter in the creation of electronic music or in the individual development and design of sound. |
