Research On Peking Opera And Tang And Tang Dynasties

In the progress of Beijing Opera's developing,a group of plays have been derived from the traditional novels,such as Romance of Sui and Tang Dynasties(Sui Tang Yan Yi)and Biography of the Tang Dynasty(Shuo Tang Quan Zhuan);besides,some plays about Sui and Tang dynasties have been borrowed from local operas.These plays have focused on the heroes of this period,such as Qin Qiong,Shan Xiongxin,and Cheng Yaojin.There had been dozens of plays about the time from Sui to Tang dynasty in Beijing Opera,and nowadays only some of them has still been performed on the stage,for example,Qin Qiong Mai Ma,Suo Wu Long,San Jia Dian,and etc..The images of Qin Qiong and other heros has been widely known by Chinese people,which is closely connected with the performing of Beijing Opera.Heroes like Qin Qiong in Chinese folk imagination have been quite different from the real history and the traditional novels.They have been shaped from the plays on the stage.This paper will base on the analysis of related plays;take Shan Xiongxin,Qin Qiong and Cheng Yaojin as examples;and compare their stage images of Beijing Opera to real history and traditional novels.The stage performance and the art means will be discussed together with the texts of plays in the paper.In addition,this paper will discuss the reasons of the thriving of plays of Sui and Tang Dynasties in Beijing Opera,the cultural factors behind the phenomenon,as well as other questions.It is hoped that,through this paper,a preliminary exploration and research of plays of Sui and Tang Dynasties in Beijing Opera would be got from different angles.
