The objective of this article is to study Arthur Honegger's Symphonic Movement H 53 Pacific 231 with various of methods,mainly targets the harmonic phenomenon.The harmonic materials,tonality features,and harmonic intensity are particularly studied,to observe the characteristic of the harmonic phenomenon in this piece,hence to analyze it thoroughly.This article consists of 3 chapters,each explains from a different aspect.In the first chapter the harmonic materials are narrated,including triads,tetrachords & pentachords,added chords,Secundal chords,and mixed interval chords.The second chapter bases on the structure of the piece,and studies the layout and characteristic of tonality.The third chapter analyzes the harmonic intensity both integrally and partially.Through the analysis of the above three chapters,fully understands his material in this work using the harmonic characteristic is in the use of "heritage" in the past at the same time,combine them,and more need to improve them to meet their own creation;But the organizational principle of the structure of music is completely obey the music content;The harmony of the ups and downs and tonal movement also all to emotion and content expressed by the music.
