Discourse Analysis In The "Golden Star Show" Program

The Jinxing Talk Show which formally launched in January 2015 is a highly acclaimed television talk show.Though it was taken off the air in August 2017,it had achieved high ratings over the course of its on-air tenure.And the success of the program has a close relationship with the component elements of the show,host's pragmatic strategies,as well as the language characteristics.In order to reveal the secret of the success of the program more clearly,we divide the thesis into four parts.The first chapter briefly summarizes the characteristics of the Jinxing Talk Show.It includes two sections.The first is the component elements of the show,and the second is the staff composition.It provides a beneficial basis for the discourse analysis.The second chapter analyzes the pragmatic strategies used by the host.Specification aimed at different subsections takes both differences and comprehensiveness into consideration.Furthermore,the combination of theory and case analysis makes the theory which is obscure more easier to understand.The third chapter analyzes the speech characteristics of the host.With the guiding of the discourse analysis theory,phonological theory,lexicology theory and rhetorical theory,this chapter analyzes actual cases and summarizes the outstanding language characteristics of the host.The fourth chapter analyzes the pragmatic failures that the presenters make in the program.First of all,it enumerates the cases of the pragmatic failures of the host.Then,it probes into the causes of the pragmatic failures.Ultimately,it offers integrated solutions for these failures.
