Prospective memory is a memory of an event or an act to be performed in the future, which is relative to Retrospective memory. One of the main features of prospective memory is that need to convert attention within current events and prospective memory. Thus,it has a higher demand for emotion and cognitive operation. As we all know,Neuroticism is one kind of personality traits which has greatly correlation with emotional stability, and if someone are high neuroticism, they would more likely to experience more negative emotions, such as nervous and dysphoric. Then, studies have confirmed that this personality trait may be negatively correlated with cognitive ability. Therefore,we would like to know whether theemotion has different influence in neuroticism's prospective memory?Based on this,it is necessary to explore the neurotic individuals' characteristics of prospective memory and the relationship with emotion, then we try to propose ways to improve the prospective memory of the high neuroticism.Research purposes:(1)Experiment 1 aims to investigate the general status of neuroticism's prospective memory in college students, and to understand the prospective memory characteristics of the high neuroticism.(2)Experiment 2 aims to figure out the prospective memory which is affected by different emotional states, and deepen the understanding of high neuroticism's prospective memory.(3)Experiment 3 aims to explore whether the record happy events intervention can improve the prospective memory of high neuroticism.Research methods:In this study,we used the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)to screen out the students with neurotic personality tendencies as subjects to participate in the following three researches.Study 1:A study on the prospective memory of college students with high and low neuroticism.A multifactorial experimental design of 2(group:high neuroticism, low neuroticism)x2(test type:event-based prospective memory,time-based prospective memory).Study 2:A study on the prospective memory of college students with high neuroticism in different emotional state.A multifactorial experimental design of 3(group:negative emotion, neutral emotion, positive emotion)x2(test type:event-based prospective memory,time-based prospective memory).Study 3:An intervention study about positive emotion on the prospective memory of college students with high neuroticism.Experimental/control group pre-posttest designExperimental group:pretest--record happy events(1 month)--posttestControl group:pretest--no intervention(1 month)--posttestResearch results:(1)The score of high neuroticism's time-based prospective memory was significant lower than the low neuroticism(p<0.001).And meanwhile, the score was significant lower than the high neuroticism's event-based prospective memory(p<0.001).(2)No matter what kind of emotional conditions, the scores of high neuroticism's time-based prospective memory were significant lower than event-based prospective memory(p<0.001;p<0.001;p<0.01);in the task of time-based prospective memory, the score of positive mood was significant higher than negative and neutral moods(p<0.001).(3)After intervention, the score of experimental group's time-based prospective memory was significant higher than before(p<0.01).Research conclusions:(1)The time-based prospective memory of high neuroticism was worse than low neuroticism.(2)The time-based prospective memory of high neuroticism was worse than event-based prospective memory.(3)The emotion could influence the time-based prospective memory of high neuroticism, and the positive mood could improve high neuroticism's time-based prospective memory.(4)The way to record happy events is effective in improving the prospective memory of high neuroticism.
