Research On The Xi'an Guild Of The Republic Of China

The Guild hall of Xi'an is the product of economic development and social change of Xi'an during the Ming and Qing dynasties.It was a self-defense and self-discipline organization founded by people who shared same hometown living in Xi'an.Initially,it was used to temporarily deposit the coffins of their dead fellows.Later it turned to be a comprehensive premises providing accommodation and reunion for the fellow villagers to enhance and promote their friendship.It was a dynamic process for the Guild hall from turning up to its fading away.In this process,it rised as a tiny new object,reached its prosperity and declined to disappear.In the middle age of Qing Dynasty,the guild hall of Xi'an continued to grow and develop with the total amount and various types being expanded.In the early period of the Republic of China,the number of local associations grew rapidly,and the social function of the guild hall declined in the late Republic of China.And then disappeared completely after the founding of the people's Republic of China.Due to the fact that previous studies have already focused on the Ming and Qing Dynasties,this paper will focus on the period of the Republic of China and the founding of the people's Republic of China,intending to make a breakthrough on the basis of previous studies,and promote the integrity of the study.The article is based on the archives of the Hall Management Committee of Xi'an,the periodicals of the Republic of China,the local chronicles and the historical accounts of past events,the inscriptions of the Guildhall.In the period of the Republic of China Xi'an city each type of hall as the main research object,trying to recover the spatial distribution of Xi'an City during the period of the Republic China and to show a single hall layout,architectural features,which attempts to study hall in Xi'an economic development,the role of social integration.The period of the Republic of China is a transition period where the development of the guild hall,hall,the chamber of commerce existed at the same time.The early researchers believed that the Guild hall and the Guild represented the old society just like decay he emergence of new chamber of,while the new arising commerce was a new social product.So for them,as long as the guild hall reduced,it meant progress.But in fact,there is not any clear signs to distinguish whether it is good or bad.The public hall is a commercial development to a certain stage of the product while the Chamber of Commerce is to adapt to the needs of the development of the times,on their basis to produce and develop.The second chapter firstly discusses the principle and basis of the selection of the hall,expounding the reasons why the concentration of the provincial hall concentrated in the southwest city and why the local township test hall gathered in the northwest city and the development of the southeast cultural and educational district and the northeast new city development.Secondly,with the form of charts to show the Republic of China nearly 70 public hall space distribution.The third part of this chapter focuses on the details of the single hall layout,land area,museum production,housing type,rent and other details of the hall.The architectural style of the hall is influenced by the local living habits,customs and culture,and has the characteristics of rich local characteristics.The size of the hall and the amount of the museums reflect the local forces in the city of Xi'an.Through the analysis of the rents of the houses in the city,Spread the Economic Development of Xi'an City.The third chapter analyzes the internal operation mechanism of the hall,and discusses its members' composition,institution setting,source of funds,rules and regulations.Comparative analysis on Weinan Township Hall and Huguang Commercial Center in the museum about the different provisions,with huguang Paradise regulations and wusheng Paradise's new inscriptions will be illustrated.The fourth chapter with the help of vivid examples explains the function and mobility of guild hall and in-depth analysis the relationships between politics,society,education and culture.At last,the author will point out the reasons for the decline of the guild hall and the direction of the early stage of the founding of the people's Republic of China.Also,a summary will be reached together with the Reflection on the protection of the building of the guild hall and the heritage of the guild hall.
