Hu Shi and Li Da,famous ideologists and politicians in modern China,are the representatives of dissemination and investigation of women's liberation in modern times.There are many researches on each women's emancipation thoughts in academia,but few comparative studies have been done yet.This article mainly focuses on the comparative research on women's liberation to the thoughts of Hu Shi and Li Da,which involves historic background,similarities and differences,historic influences,and contemporary significance of their thoughts.Hu Shi and Li Da lived in the turnover era of old culture and new culture.They both supported women to break with outmoded customs and establish new ones in respects of marriage,education and spirit.More specifically,they encouraged women to fight for their right to marriage,to receive education,to improve their quality,and to awaken women to fight for their own emancipation.Their thoughts had a wide impact at that time and still have profound significance to the study of women's liberation in the world today.But it is necessary to recognize that their thoughts also have their own limitations.
