With the development of the information technology and multimedia,foreign language writing shows itself in diversified teaching form.Affected by the modern development of information technology,intelligent computer automated essay evaluation system which serves for foreign language writing teaching has born.The rise of intelligent computer automated essay evaluation system broke the wall of traditional universities,making the foreign language writing teaching unrestricted by time and space.Due to the influence of traditional writing teaching,most intelligent automated essay evaluation systems are designed for writing test and they only provide scores.Thus,it becomes a necessity to make application of formative assessment and feedback to evaluate students' learning process,learning attitude and learning effect.Through the analysis of related research about the intelligent automated essay evaluation systems at home and abroad,this paper tries to construct the formative evaluation and feedback mechanism of foreign language writing based on constructivism theory,process writing theory and humanism theory.The feedback mechanism works on improving the quality of formative evaluation and feedback in the system,which is also committed to promote the reform of writing teaching,cultivating students' the self-learning ability and improve students' writing level.Through the analysis of the research,the author has the following findings: 1)It is a trend to apply formative evaluation and feedback in intelligent automated essay evaluation system.2)Teachers and students should keep an open mind and co-operative attitude in the system.The teacher should then free to focus to be learners,organizers and guiders.3)Formative assessment can improve the students' self-learning ability.4)If we want to improve the quality of the formative evaluation feedback in intelligent automated essay evaluation system,the multiagent evaluation system should be established.This study provides support for promoting the reform of foreign language teaching and perfecting the teaching evaluation system and evaluation quality by combining computer technology with foreign language teaching,which complies with the requirements of the era of big data.At the same time,this study is a positive exploration of the formative evaluation theory,which also proves that it has a positive impact on improving the efficiency of students' writing and the composition teaching efficiency.It is also of great significance for the comprehensive assessment of student achievement and the improvement of students' writing ability autonomously.
