Today,with rapid development of new technologies and materials as well as fastupdate of new thoughts and information,a youngster who is passionate about and has chosen the profession of painting,an ancient artistic media,is especially required toreview the current state of the art he has been devoted to.For me,I especially cherish thetraditional media of painting for it gives a sense of techniques for silent appreciation andaftertaste and conveys the steadiness,perseverance and dignity of the last warrior in thischangeable time.Therefore,I hope that I could sort out and research on the enduringexpression of nobility and spirituality in artistic works touching the humans' minds in acourse of millenniums.The paper consists of three parts.Chapter One mainly talks about the concepts of"nobility" and "sense of nobility".It sorts out the theoretical researches on "nobility"within the range of aesthetics and the connection between the production of works and thenobility in the history of fine art.Chapter Two,with specific analysis on the works inancient Egypt and the works of Giotto,Friedrich,Rothko and Newman,researches onhow they apply nobility and demonstrate spirituality in the painting.Chapter Threemainly illustrates some of my thoughts on using paintings to express nobility and mypainting practices therein.I hold that this research is invaluable in guiding my creation practices and my life.Ialso hope that with it I can uncover and give play to the unique strengths and powers ofthe ancient media of painting in present times.
