Research On The Use Of Hedges In Interviews From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

Hedges are widely used in our daily communication.It can be used as both linguistic form and language strategy to express the undetermined or skeptical attitude of the speaker.It also can be used to modify or adjust the relationship between speakers,and thus to achieve communicative purpose more smoothly.In recent years,the research on hedges has been very extensive,but the adaptation theory,one of the three pragmatics theories has not been applied to the research of hedges.In addition,although scholars have explored the characteristics of usage and functions of the hedges in different discourse and style,but TV talk shows,as a kind of institutional discourse,have not attracted enough attention in relevant fields.For the view of above two points,the author tries to use Adaption Theory to analyze hedges of a famous TV program,Jin Xing Show,and show how the hedges adapt to the psychological world,the social world and the physical world.This paper can help people better understand the characteristics of the hedges,and hedges of TV talk show research can also help people deepen the use of hedges in daily life consciousness and master its use strategy.In addition,the author analyzes the reasons for the use of the most frequent hedges in the corpus,and provides reference for the later scholars.
