People Under The Discipline Of The Modern Power System

Kant said that people are the purpose.This is unconditional and absolute.After Kant added the last question after his traditional three major criticisms,then the three previous questions: What can I know? What must I do? What can I expect? It was linked to the fourth question and answered the last question in this way: What is the person? Fundamentally speaking,the modern philosophy since Descartes has been answering this question.In other words,after Descartes,God no longer but people occupy the core position of modern philosophy.Unlike Kant,Foucault is most concerned with the situation of modern people who live historically,concretely,and emotionally.In other words,Foucault's uniqueness lies in his historic transformation of this issue of Kant.He is not a "pure" philosopher of Kant or Hegel,his philosophy is closely linked with his historical research,and his philosophical thoughts are mainly scattered in his historical narrative.Foucault is both a philosopher and a historian.Most of his works appear in the history of intellectual history,knowledge history,and scientific history.In Foucault's view,people are people in history,and people who have not changed in the past,Kant's problems should think like this: "What is our current(human)?" and "How do we(people)become today? What is it?"The main purpose of my master's thesis is to express Foucault's view that modern society is a "prison society," "law society," and "surveillance society." Foucault believes that the modern society is essentially a "round prison" that monitors each other,and surveillance is the key to modern knowledge-the operation of power.Modern society transforms individuals through knowledge-power operations to standardize them to meet the needs of power.The operating mechanism of modern prisons is not only confined to prisons but is gradually spread throughout the society through schools,military camps,labor camps,factories and hospitals.Finally,modern society has become a "prison society." In this “prison society”,the operation of knowledge—power controls everything,and people are severely controlled as never before.Although Foucault's writing methods and research objects are all non-philosophical and the discourse is mostly purely descriptive,rather than normative,in my understanding,Foucault reveals how modern people have become like this.
