Liao Dynasty Chicken Crown Pot Research

Since Cockscomb pot was first excavated from Liao Dynasty Tombs in 1930s,it has accumulated considerable material data.However,the research on Cockscomb pot is generally concentrated in the field of Archaeological typology and the History of ceramics,and there is great space for the comprehensive study of its noumenon modeling art and cultural connotation.During Liao Dynasty,Cockscomb pot has undergone a series of evolutions on the material,shape and decorative pattern.Finally,the form of the ceramic is selected as a carrier,and it develops continuously in the process of ceramics.Around the question"Why the Ceramic",on the basis of the comprehensive collection of the unearthed data from the Liao Dynasty,this paper examines the relationship between concept and entity of Cockscomb pot,summarizes the evolution process of the styling decoration,probes into the space position and the unit form in the burials,and analyzes the typical objects and the construction of the typical tombs of the Khitan people and the Han people.Thus inquire into the development and changes of the social handicraft industry,the funeral customs and burial regulations,social ideology in the Liao Dynasty,as well as the interaction between the Khitan nomadic culture and the Tang and Song cultures in the context of ethnic integration.
