On the view of historical development, this dissertation takes time as an order, and uses longitudinal historical price analysis and horizontal market price comparison method to analyze samples of modern Chinese painting artists since the foundation of the country. The price data of 1990s used in this dissertation is mostly supported by publications of the same period and some physical samples. After 2000,artist data sample collection is mostly from www.Artron.net AMMA database.According to the sample data,it is basically possible to outline the scale of the modern art market in China and the market price fluctuation curve of major artists. After the founding of the country, the market price of modern Chinese paintings was influenced by different factors in different periods of history.17 years after the founding of China, the sales mode of traditional Chinese painting is exclusively for sale, and mainly public to public sales, which are mostly sold to museums, galleries, and so on.Private sales are forbidden.Individual buyers are cadres, experts, scholars, and so on,who are doing cultural studies or cultural exchanges among international friends. Therefore, the prices during this period were mainly influenced by policy factors, which is normally 20%added to the purchase price.During the period of the cultural revolution, because of the political campaign,Chinese cultural circles were greatly impacted, and the art became the "four olds" which the ordinary people did not dare to buy and sell. The collectors were mainly overseas Chinese and a few senior cadre who were not influenced by political impact.During this period, price changes were mainly influenced by political factors. After the reform and opening up,Chinese painting regained certain commodity attributes, but it still had a huge price difference with the sales prices in Hongkong and the US market. The change in price is mainly influenced by the way of sale and the sale's location. In 90s,the Chinese mainland set up cultural relic art auction company, breaking the monopoly position of Sotheby and Christie's auction of Chinese art, breaking through the prices of London,New York and Hongkong, making the price of Chinese cultural relics increase rapidly. The price changes are mainly influenced by the rapid economic growth in Asia and the economic strength of collectors.Eg.:In 1997,the Asian economic crisis broke out,the market was depressed, and the price was mainly influenced by the economic environment.Since 2000,price changes show a rising trend of stage fluctuation. The main influencing factors are the involvement of financial products such as art funds and the rise of the price of artworks by new buyers.
