After the Ming dynasty was established, Although Mongolian forces retreated to the northern region, they still threatening the rule of the Ming dynasty. To resist the invasion of the Mongolian army, the Ming government established a series of military areas along the Great Wall and formed nine important Towns in the frontier. Xuanfu town is one of the nine towns.After YongLe, the first-line military areas such as Daning, Xinghe, Kaiping were loss successively, coupled with the capital's moving to Beijing from Nanjing, Xuanfu town became the battlefront to withstand the Mongolia and defend the capital. The gains and losses of Xuanfu town directly related to the survival of the capital. This paper mainly deals with Xuanfu town systematically from several aspects, including its natural environment, its establishement, the system of the military defense, the quarter and supply about the army, and also the major battles occurred in Xuanfu town, then fully reflects the importance of Xuanfu town in guarding the capital, consolidating the northern frontier and even maintaining the stability of the Ming dynasty.
