Research On Female Crimes In Minority Areas

Since females make up only a small portion of criminals, their crime problemhasn't received as much attention as it should from academic research. However, withthe evolution of the times and the development of society, females have obtainedmuch greater chance of participating in various social activities Their status has alsobeen improved accordingly. Women are playing an increasingly important role inmodern social life, but in the meanwhile female crime is also increasingly prominent,thus undermining social harmony, which should arouse widespread concern in societyespecially for the women in minority regions, who often have different criminalmotives due to the difference in social background and economic position. Thisshould receive enough attention from academic circles to allow, precautions to betaken against female crime problem in minority regions.Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Southeast Guizhou Province is amulti-ethnic community, inhabited mainly by the Miao and Dong nationality, andconcurrently by other nationalities with the Han, Bouyei, Shui, Yao and Tujianationality included. For this reason, the author chooses Qiandongnan Prefecture as aregion for the study on minority female crime problem. It is hoped that a discussionand interpretation will be made of any female crime problem in minority areas bymeans of an analysis on individual female crime cases and with the combination ofthe local political, economic and cultural historical background and realistic condition,so that suggestions and precautionary measures should be put forward against thecrimes.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part explains the significance of subject selection, purpose and methodof research as well as content of research in the introduction.Through field investigations,the second part makes an empirical analysis on theinformation of the female crime cases between2008and2012in QiandongnanPrefecture. It starts from the number, typology, age, identity, nationality and literacyof the criminals to reveal the feature and law of the female crime in Qiandongnan Prefecture by comparing the female crime cases between different regions.The third part is, according to the actual situation in Qiandongnan Prefecture,analyze the reasons of local female convicts‘characteristic and dangers.The fourth part makes an analysis on female crime problem by means of the saidcrime characteristics and reasons and with the combination of such factors as the localpolitics, economy, culture and geographical environment, etc., according to theuniversal law of the female crime in minority regions, thereby to protocol moreeffective precautionary measures and countermeasures against the female crime inthis area and even all minority regions.
