| Officially established on Oct. 24 th, 2004, Chinese women's water polo team made its debut in the 29 thBeijing Olympic Games by winning the fifth grade, which attracted the world's attention and then promoted women's water polo to be listed as a formal event of the 11 thNational Games in 2009. With the rapid development of water polo in our country, Chinese women's water polo team has many amazing and outstanding performances, such as winning the championship in the 2009 World University Games, being the silver medal winner in the 2011 FINA World Aquatics Championships, and ranking the fifth in the 2012 London Olympic Games. All these achievements mark that Chinese women's water polo team has already been successful among the top international level. In fact, there are eight Chinese women's water polo teams with the first six on a fairly equivalent level with each other. This article will have an in-depth research on the issue of shooting skills of the top six Chinese women's water polo teams of 2015 National Women's Water Polo Championship, hoping to provide some theoretical evidences for the development of Sichuan women's water polo team.The author mainly uses five approaches, namely literature consultation, expert interview, mathematical statistics and logic analysis, to probe into the shooting issues existed among the athletes and coaches of top six national women's water polo teams from the aspects of ages, training, managements and competitions, to find the key problems and to give suggestions on them.Shooting:Among the top six, teams from Tianjing and Shanghai have relatively better shooting athletes. As for today's teams from Guangxi and Sichuan, due to the succession of the new to the old, they use more young girls to counter with others.The team of Hunan is a group of up-rising stars, for it is composed of several entirely young girls without the guidance of experienced athletes. Though those young girls are not so good at the shooting skills, they have enough courage to fight and work hard.There are many kinds of shooting skills, such as inside shot, perimeter shot,center shot, six on five tactics and five-meter shot. All the top six have a generally low success rate in center shot so that they can not always get scores. However, among them, the center forwards of the teams from Tianjin and Shanghai have relative strong strength and shooting ability. Because on the one hand, center shot has its advantage of containing the defenders at the other side and creating more long shot opportunitiesfor the perimeter players. And on the other hand, as the center forwards have strong ability, they can provide one more shooting chance for the attackers by creating a situation in which the players of the opposing team who guard our center forwards will be knocked out for 20 seconds for serious foul play and then six on five tactics can be used. In fact, the team that is more successful in six on five shooting will have more chances to win the game, as six on five is among the key tactics of scoring in water polo sport.From above, it can be concluded that all the top six have their weakness in shot skills. Some teams have better center shot skills but are lack of the awareness of perimeter shot; while some teams are quick in perimeter shot but are relatively weak in center shot or have poor experience in dealing with clutch shot. Thus, Sichuan women's water polo team should have the following timely adjustment according to the advantages and disadvantages of the offensive skills of the top six teams.Improving the shooting skills of all players. In a water polo game, treading water and controlling strengths of the arms, waist and legs are some skills that must be used in shooting. To intensify these skills can hugely advance the shooting ability of the water polo players.Shooting is the most important skill that can determine winning or losing in a water polo competition. Many coaches most often apply various kinds of tactics but forget all those tactics should work for the target of shooting. So how to practice, how to improve the shot skills of players in inside shot, perimeter shot, center shot and six on five shot effectively is one of the key problems for Sichuan women's water polo team. Therefore, shooting skills are an indispensable and important part in water polo sport.It can be seen from the shooting skills of our national top six that comparatively,the teams from Tianjin, Guangxi, Guangzhou and Shanghai are better at traditional shooting skills of big power shot, while due to body conditions, the teams from Sichuan and Hunan can only apply some strong technical shooting skills. Moreover,the new rule offers a new chance for the team from Sichuan that their players have more disadvantages in the body shape than the northern players. Hence, our team should timely adjust our ordinary shot training methods and further deal with our shortages in the frequencies of shooting by comparing with others. |
